GCA Education Services, Inc. - New Housekeeping and Grounds Maintenance Services Contractor
The UTSA Office of Facilities announces GCA Education Services, Inc. (GCA) has been selected as the University's new Housekeeping and Grounds Maintenance services contractor effective September 1, 2013. GCA brings higher educational and K-12 experience with over 60 clients involved in education as well as U. T. System experience serving four different institutions. GCA also has a significant presence in and understanding of the San Antonio area with higher education clients Alamo Community College and Trinity University; and several well established commercial clients, including Christus Santa Rosa, H-E-B, Coca Cola, and South Texas Heart Institute.
The Office of Facilities engaged in a highly competitive selection process to establish contracted housekeeping and grounds services for UTSA, which will commence at the Downtown Campus (DTC) and the Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) and western areas of the Main Campus effective September 1, 2013. During this competitive process GCA demonstrated the best combination of experience, expertise, and price to meet the needs of the UTSA community. The process of determining the best contractor involved exhaustive examination of the credentials and historical and current performance for each of the eight companies that submitted proposals to provide these services. These were followed by finalist presentations and follow-on clarification discussions. The evaluation team consisted of a broad diverse group of staff and customers within UTSA to ensure that all aspects of the needed services were addressed, and the UTSA Purchasing Office and U. T. System Office of General Counsel provided strong support from start to finish of the selection process.
"I commend the evaluation team and the contract negotiation team for their outstanding work on this challenging selection process." said Dave Riker, Associate Vice President for Facilities. "This contract is expected to result in significant cost savings to the University while maintaining the quality of services being provided to students, faculty and staff."
