LST: Air Conditioning Outage

(August 6, 2020) – Air conditioning in the Large Scale Testing Laboratory (LST) is down, resulting in warm temperatures throughout the building. Facilities is working to resolve this issue and will send a follow-up e-mail when the repairs are complete and normal building temperatures restored.  For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262.


AET and SEB: Higher Humidity Levels and Temperature Fluctuations

(August 3, 2020) – Occupants of the Applied Engineering and Technology Building (AET) and the Science and Engineering Building (SEB) may experience higher than normal humidity levels or fluctuations in temperature due to problems with the South Thermal Energy Plant boilers. The boilers, which help regulate humidity and temperatures, are down for emergency repairs. We will send an update notification when the repairs are completed. Protective Barrier Request Process

The Public Health Task Force supports the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as clear plastic barriers, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The university’s Recovery Operations Committee (ROC) has approved criteria for assessing spaces to determine whether or not a barrier is warranted.

NPB: Fire Alarm Testing – July 27, 2020

Testing of the North Paseo Building (NPB) fire alarm system will occur on Monday, July 27, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Building occupants will hear loud alarms during the testing, as this is needed to ensure the alarm system is functioning properly. “Request Service” Button Error on the Facilities Website

UPDATE:  7/27/20 – Issue resolved.  We are having problems with the “Request Service” buttons and images on our website.  When selected, the complete iService Desk homepage is not displayed, if you click on Home on the right sidebar the page should reload correctly.  We have initiated a “trouble ticket” to resolve this issue as soon as possible.  In the meantime, you can reach the iService Desk directly at http://webtma.utsa.edu:180/home.html, then clicking Home.  We apologize for the inconvenience.


BSE: Air Handler Unit Outage – July 30, 2020

Air handler unit #92 in the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building (BSE) will be shut down from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020 for repairs. The outage may affect comfort cooling to rooms in corridors 1.400, 1.600, 2.200, 2.400, 4.200, and 4.300. The unit will be turned back on immediately following completion of the work or by no later than 12:00 p.m. For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.


Main Campus: Intermittent Road Closures – July 27 and July 28, 2020

Several roads on campus will be closed intermittently from 7:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 through 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. The closures are needed to seal coat roads and stripe pedestrian crosswalks near newly installed sidewalks and ramps, and will affect pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Signs will be used to identify closures and detours. The following roads are affected:

• Brennan Avenue, closed from Bosque Street to Brackenridge Avenue
• Barshop Boulevard, closed from the north end of BS1 Lot to BK4 Lot (detour through BS1 Lot)
• University Center Drive, closed west of the circle, between TEP and SU
• Principal Street and Bauerle Road intersection closed (detour through BR2 Lot)
• UTSA Circle, entrances to MB parking spaces closed.

MB: Air Handler Unit Maintenance – July 14 & 15, 2020

The air handler units in the Main Building (MB) will be shut down for maintenance between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 and Wednesday, July 15, 2020. The outages may slightly affect building temperatures; however, only one unit at a time will be shut down to reduce the impact to building occupants. The outages are not expected to affect building temperatures, as only one unit at a time will be shut down. AET: Vacuum System Down Until Further Notice – 7/9/2020

7/21/20 – UPDATE: The vacuum system has been repaired and operating normally.

CC/IAB/RWC/Recreation Field Complex/Baseball Field/Softball Field – Domestic Water Outage – July 12, 2020

7/9/2020 – UPDATE: This water outage is cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date.

Domestic water service to the Convocation Center (CC), Intercollegiate Athletics Building (IAB), Recreation Wellness Center, including Student Health Services (RWC), Recreation Field Complex, Baseball Field, and Softball Field will be shut down from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2020, in support of the Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence (RACE) project. The outage, necessary to tie in a new 12-inch domestic water line to the campus’ 16-inch service line, will affect restrooms, sinks, showers, drinking fountains, pools, irrigation, and any equipment that uses domestic water. RRC: Domestic Water Outage – July 15, 2020

Domestic water service to the Roadrunner Café (RRC) will be shut down from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15 in support of the Guadalupe Hall project. The outage, necessary to install a new plumbing tee northwest of RRC, will affect restrooms, sinks, drinking fountains, and any equipment that uses domestic water. MBT & SRL: Warm Building Temperatures

The chillers that provide cooling to the Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratories (MBT) and Science Research Laboratories (SRL) are experiencing some failures and not operating at 100% efficiency. As a result, building occupants will experience warmer than normal temperatures and higher humidity levels during the heat of the day. Facilities is working hard to resolve this problem as soon as possible. We will send an update notification when the repairs are complete. UTSA Campuses – State Required Elevator Inspections July 6 – 17

Elevators located in the Main, Downtown and HemisFair campuses will be inspected each day between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. beginning July 6, 2020 through July 17, 2020. Elevators will be shut down one at a time for approximately thirty-minutes. Inspections requiring longer outages are not expected to exceed one-hour. MH – Men’s Restroom (2.01.22) Closed for Emergency Repairs Jun 24

The men’s restroom located on the second floor of the McKinney Humanities Building (MH), room 2.01.22, has been shut down today, Wednesday, June 24, 2020, for emergency plumbing repairs. The restroom is expected to be closed through 8:00 a.m. on, Thursday, June 25, 2020. For additional information, contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.


RWC/Recreation Field Complex/Baseball Field – Domestic Water Outage Jun 27

Domestic water service to the Recreation Wellness Center, including Student Health Services, Recreation Field Complex and Baseball Field will be shut down from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020, in support of the Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence (RACE) project. The outage, necessary to tie in a new twelve inch domestic water line, will affect restrooms, sinks, showers, drinking fountains, pools, irrigation and any equipment that uses domestic water. Updated Urgent Notice – BSB Non-potable Hot Water Service Outage May 29

Update: Non-potable hot water service to the BSB is still down for emergency repairs due to a boiler failure. Facilities is currently in the process of purchasing a new boiler.
Estimated time of purchase, delivery and installation is approximately six to eight weeks. A follow up email will be sent once the new boiler has been installed.

Non-potable hot water service to the Biosciences Building (BSB) is down today, May 29, 2020, for emergency repairs. The outage affects all laboratory sinks that use non-potable hot water. Repairs are expected to be completed by next week. A follow up email will be sent when repairs have been completed. For additional information, contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.


Urgent – Transportation Building Potable Water Outage Jun 17

Potable water that services the Transportation Building is down for emergency repairs, today, June 17, 2020. The outage affects restrooms, sinks, drinking fountains and hose bibs. There is currently no estimated time of completion. A follow up email will be sent once repairs have been completed. For additional information, contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.


Update – RRC, Chaparral Village and Chisholm Hall Domestic Water Outage June 19

Update: The following domestic water outage has been extended to 12:00 noon today, Friday, June 19, 2020, and also includes the Large Scale Testing Laboratory, Science Research Laboratories (SRL), Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratories (MBT), Sculpture and Ceramics (SC), Sculpture and Ceramics Graduate Studio and MEMS Lab (MEM). Service will be restored immediately following completion of the work or by no later than 12:00 noon.

Domestic water service to the Roadrunner Café (RRC), Chaparral Village and Chisholm Hall including the Activity Center, will be shut down from 2:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020, as part of the new Guadalupe Hall project. The outage, necessary to tie in the domestic water line, will affect occupants in Chisholm Hall and Chaparral Village, restrooms, sinks, swimming pool, air conditioning and any other equipment that use domestic water.
