FLN: Pressure washing of 4th Floor Terrace

Pressure washing of the Flawn Building (FLN) fourth floor terrace will occur from Monday, July 29 through Saturday, August 3, 2019. Work will be performed each night from 5:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. For additional information, please reference the attached map or contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.

BSB Steam Outage August 14

Steam service to the Biosciences Building (BSB) will be shut down from 5:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, for drain and pipe repairs/replacement. The outage will affect the use of auto claves and there may be noise associated with the removal and installation of the new drain, in room 3.03.36. BSE Steam Outage August 10

Steam service to the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering (BSE) building will be shut down at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2019, for leak repairs.  The outage will affect potable and non-potable domestic hot water, auto claves, tunnel washers and building humidity.  Steam service will be restored immediately following completion of the repairs or by no later than 4:30 p.m. on August 10.  For additional information, contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.

 


West Campus Four-Hour Water Outage July 20

Water service to the MEMS Lab (MEM), Power and Dynamics Systems Laboratory (PDS), Science and Engineering Laboratory (SEL), Science Research Laboratory (SRL) and Sculpture/Ceramics (SC), will be shut down from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2019, for repairs to the fire hydrant located on West Campus Road. Main Campus Road Repairs: July 19 – August 23

Road repairs to a large portion of Main Campus roads will occur from July 19 through August 23, 2019, to include asphalt replacement, seal coating of road surfaces, and painting/striping. Work will be performed each day between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. or 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday – Sunday.

Repairs will require intermittent road and lane closures throughout the duration of the project. We have developed a work schedule to minimize the disruption to traffic flow and will have barricades, signs, and flagmen onsite to identify detours.

Work will be accomplished in two phases. Road repairs are scheduled from July 19 to August 3, 2019 and seal coating and painting/striping will occur from July 25 to August 23, 2019. Please refer to the attached maps and schedules to see when particular portions of the Main Campus roads will be closed.

As with any construction project, there is a possibility that the schedule will need to be adjusted due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. We will post any changes to the schedule on the Facilities website at https://facilities.utsa.edu/announcements/main-campus-road-repairs-july-19-august-23/, through Facilities email notifications, and via UTSA social media platforms.

Update 9:  8/21/2019 – Road repairs have been completed ahead of schedule and all campus roads are open.  

Update 8:  8/16/2019 – Additional road repair added to the schedule.  Road repair on Barshop Blvd., from UTSA Blvd. to Barshop Circle, will occur from 21 Aug to 22 Aug.  This portion of Barshop Blvd. and entrance to campus from UTSA Blvd. will be closed.  Please refer to the Seal Coat Schedule and Map below.   

Update 7:  8/13/2019 – Changes to the Traffic Impact section of the Seal Coat Schedule (Areas 6 & 11) and to announce that BR3 lot will be closed when Area 6 is seal coated from 15 Aug to 17 Aug.  

Update 6:  8/12/2019 – We are ahead of schedule due to the great weather that we are having in San Antonio.  To keep the momentum going, we are accelerating the final two phases of the project.   Areas 4b, 7a, and 7b begin today, 8/12/2019.  Areas 6 and 11 will occur 15-17 August.  Changes are reflected in the link below and annotated with an asterisk.

BB: Portion of West Entrance Closed July 18 – August 23

A portion of the Business Building (BB) west side entrance, including access doors 2.01-3, 2.01-4, 2.01-5 and 2.01-6, will be blocked from Thursday, July 18, 2019 through Friday, August 23, 2019, for exterior stone repairs. MH Air Handler Units Shut Down for Maintenance July 27 & 28

The air handler units that service all floors of the Mckinney Humanities (MH) building will be shut down between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019 and Sunday, July 28, 2019, for maintenance. The outages will not affect weekend operations as only one unit at a time will be shutdown. For additional information, contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.

Student Union Hot/Cold Water Outage Scheduled for July 11

Hot and cold water service to the Student Union (SU) will be shut down between 7:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019, for installation of new ball valves. The outage will affect sinks, toilets, water fountains and other equipment that uses hot and cold water. For additional information, contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.


Urgent Notification: JPL Elevators Out of Service

The four (4) passenger elevators located in the John Peace Library (JPL) are out of service. A contractor is on the way to troubleshoot the issue. We hope to have the elevators back in service later today. Until then, the freight elevator located behind the bank of passenger elevators is available and operational.
