UTSA Campuses – State Required Elevator Inspections July 6 – 17

Elevators located in the Main, Downtown and HemisFair campuses will be inspected each day between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. beginning July 6, 2020 through July 17, 2020. Elevators will be shut down one at a time for approximately thirty-minutes. Inspections requiring longer outages are not expected to exceed one-hour. MH – Men’s Restroom (2.01.22) Closed for Emergency Repairs Jun 24

The men’s restroom located on the second floor of the McKinney Humanities Building (MH), room 2.01.22, has been shut down today, Wednesday, June 24, 2020, for emergency plumbing repairs. The restroom is expected to be closed through 8:00 a.m. on, Thursday, June 25, 2020. For additional information, contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.


RWC/Recreation Field Complex/Baseball Field – Domestic Water Outage Jun 27

Domestic water service to the Recreation Wellness Center, including Student Health Services, Recreation Field Complex and Baseball Field will be shut down from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27, 2020, in support of the Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence (RACE) project. The outage, necessary to tie in a new twelve inch domestic water line, will affect restrooms, sinks, showers, drinking fountains, pools, irrigation and any equipment that uses domestic water. Urgent – Transportation Building Potable Water Outage Jun 17

Potable water that services the Transportation Building is down for emergency repairs, today, June 17, 2020. The outage affects restrooms, sinks, drinking fountains and hose bibs. There is currently no estimated time of completion. A follow up email will be sent once repairs have been completed. For additional information, contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.


Update – RRC, Chaparral Village and Chisholm Hall Domestic Water Outage June 19

Update: The following domestic water outage has been extended to 12:00 noon today, Friday, June 19, 2020, and also includes the Large Scale Testing Laboratory, Science Research Laboratories (SRL), Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratories (MBT), Sculpture and Ceramics (SC), Sculpture and Ceramics Graduate Studio and MEMS Lab (MEM). Service will be restored immediately following completion of the work or by no later than 12:00 noon.

Domestic water service to the Roadrunner Café (RRC), Chaparral Village and Chisholm Hall including the Activity Center, will be shut down from 2:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020, as part of the new Guadalupe Hall project. The outage, necessary to tie in the domestic water line, will affect occupants in Chisholm Hall and Chaparral Village, restrooms, sinks, swimming pool, air conditioning and any other equipment that use domestic water. NTEP – Electrical Power Transfer Jun 15 – 19

Electrical power supply to the North Thermal Energy Plant (NTEP) will be transferred from a temporary feed to the new switchgear permanent power feed between 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2020, and 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2020, as part of the kV Switchgear Replacement project. The transfer of power will require a complete thirty-minute plant shut down from 7:00 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. on June 15. The outage is not expected to affect campus operations as the South Thermal Energy Plant (STEP) will service the campus during the outage however; there may be a slight drop in steam supply pressure and slight increase in building temperatures. FLN: Exhaust Fans Shut Down for Maintenance June 15 & 16

Exhaust fans #2, 4, 8, 11, 17, 18, 19N, 19S, 22. 23W, 24, 25, 36, 37, 38, 41, 42, 43, 51, 52, 53, 54, 57 and 105 that service the Flawn Sciences Building (FLN) will be shut down between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2020, and Tuesday, June 16, 2020, for maintenance. Please do not use or store chemicals inside fume hoods during the outages. For additional information, contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.


Ximenes Parking Lot – Underground Leak Repairs June 12 – June 26

Five ADA parking spaces in the Ximenes Parking Lot and a small portion of the adjacent sidewalk will be closed from June 12, 2020, through June 26, 2020, for underground water leak repairs.  The ADA path from the Crespa Walk to the sidewalk located on the west side of the Applied Engineering and Technology Building (AET) and all other parking spaces in the Ximenes Parking Lot will remain open and available for use.  For additional information, reference the attached maps or contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.

Update: UTSA Blvd – Backflow Preventer Replacement June 23

Update: The following outage has been rescheduled, as the SAWS water valve did not hold during this morning’s shut down. Water will be shut down from 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, when SAWS returns to campus to turn their valve back on. The shutdown will not affect water service to the campus. The water meter located on Babcock Road will feed the campus during the outage.

Water, from the meter to the ten-inch backflow preventer on UTSA Boulevard, will be shut down from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2020, as part of the backflow preventer replacement project. The shutdown will not affect water service to the campus. The water meter located on Babcock Road will feed the campus during the outage. FLN Air Handler Unit Maintenance June 11 & 12

Air handler unit (AHU) #10 that services the west side of the Flawn Sciences Building (FLN) will be shut down from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2020, and AHU #11 that services the east side of the building will be shut down from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 12, 2020, for maintenance. The outages may affect comfort cooling to these areas of the building. Service will be restored immediately following completion of the work or by no later than 10:00 a.m. on June 11 and 12. Urgent Notice:  BSE Water Leak June 8

Facilities is currently working to clean up a water leak in and around rooms 0.210 and 1.106 of the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building’s (BSE), ground and first levels, that occurred when a break room sink line on the first level ruptured this afternoon, June 8, 2020.  The leak has been isolated and no water outages are required at this time. Urgent Notice: BSE AHU Outage June 9

Air handler unit (AHU) #90 that services all levels of the east and south sides of the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building (BSE), corridors 100 and 200 only, will be shut down between 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 9, 2020, for emergency repairs. The outage is not expected to impact daily operations, as all other air handler units located throughout the building will remain operational. Urgent: FLN Air Handler Unit Down for Emergency Repairs June 5

Air handler unit #10 that services the north side of the Flawn Sciences Building (FLN), all floors, is down for emergency repairs, today, Friday June 5, 2020. The outage affects heating, ventilation and cooling the north side of the building only. The unit is expected to be repaired by 5:00 p.m., tomorrow, June 6, 2020. Main Campus – Natural Gas Outage Jun 10

Natural gas service to the buildings below will be shut down from 7:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, as part of the new Guadalupe Hall project. The outage, necessary for the tie in of the new building’s gas line, will affect comfort heating, domestic hot water, autoclaves, kitchen equipment using natural gas and emergency generators. EB Elevator Upgrades Jun 8 – Aug 31

UPDATE: One elevator will remain operational while work is performed from July 14 through August 31, 2020; not two as originally announced in the notification below.  The elevators located in the Engineering Building (EB) will be shut down, one at a time, between Monday, June 8, 2020, and Monday, August 31, 2020, as part of the building’s elevator upgrades.
