Protective Barrier Request Process

(July 30, 2020) – The Public Health Task Force supports the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as clear plastic barriers, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The university’s Recovery Operations Committee (ROC) has approved criteria for assessing spaces to determine whether or not a barrier is warranted.

NPB: Fire Alarm Testing – July 27, 2020

Testing of the North Paseo Building (NPB) fire alarm system will occur on Monday, July 27, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Building occupants will hear loud alarms during the testing, as this is needed to ensure the alarm system is functioning properly. “Request Service” Button Error on the Facilities Website

UPDATE:  7/27/20 – Issue resolved.  We are having problems with the “Request Service” buttons and images on our website.  When selected, the complete iService Desk homepage is not displayed, if you click on Home on the right sidebar the page should reload correctly.  We have initiated a “trouble ticket” to resolve this issue as soon as possible.  In the meantime, you can reach the iService Desk directly at http://webtma.utsa.edu:180/home.html, then clicking Home.  We apologize for the inconvenience.


BSE: Air Handler Unit Outage – July 30, 2020

Air handler unit #92 in the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building (BSE) will be shut down from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2020 for repairs. The outage may affect comfort cooling to rooms in corridors 1.400, 1.600, 2.200, 2.400, 4.200, and 4.300. The unit will be turned back on immediately following completion of the work or by no later than 12:00 p.m. For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at 458-4262.


Main Campus: Intermittent Road Closures – July 27 and July 28, 2020

Several roads on campus will be closed intermittently from 7:00 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 through 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2020. The closures are needed to seal coat roads and stripe pedestrian crosswalks near newly installed sidewalks and ramps, and will affect pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Signs will be used to identify closures and detours. The following roads are affected:

• Brennan Avenue, closed from Bosque Street to Brackenridge Avenue
• Barshop Boulevard, closed from the north end of BS1 Lot to BK4 Lot (detour through BS1 Lot)
• University Center Drive, closed west of the circle, between TEP and SU
• Principal Street and Bauerle Road intersection closed (detour through BR2 Lot)
• UTSA Circle, entrances to MB parking spaces closed.

MB: Air Handler Unit Maintenance – July 14 & 15, 2020

The air handler units in the Main Building (MB) will be shut down for maintenance between 6:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 and Wednesday, July 15, 2020. The outages may slightly affect building temperatures; however, only one unit at a time will be shut down to reduce the impact to building occupants. AET: Air Handler Unit Maintenance – July 15 & 16, 2020

The air handler units in the Applied Engineering and Technology Building (AET) will be shut down for maintenance between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 and Thursday, July 16, 2020. The outages are not expected to affect building temperatures, as only one unit at a time will be shut down. AET: Vacuum System Down Until Further Notice – 7/9/2020

7/21/20 – UPDATE: The vacuum system has been repaired and operating normally.

The vacuum system that provides service to labs and fume hoods is down until further notice. We will send and update notification when the system is repaired and back in service. For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262.


CC/IAB/RWC/Recreation Field Complex/Baseball Field/Softball Field – Domestic Water Outage – July 12, 2020

7/9/2020 – UPDATE: This water outage is cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date.

Domestic water service to the Convocation Center (CC), Intercollegiate Athletics Building (IAB), Recreation Wellness Center, including Student Health Services (RWC), Recreation Field Complex, Baseball Field, and Softball Field will be shut down from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2020, in support of the Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence (RACE) project. The outage, necessary to tie in a new 12-inch domestic water line to the campus’ 16-inch service line, will affect restrooms, sinks, showers, drinking fountains, pools, irrigation, and any equipment that uses domestic water. RRC: Domestic Water Outage – July 15, 2020

Domestic water service to the Roadrunner Café (RRC) will be shut down from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15 in support of the Guadalupe Hall project. The outage, necessary to install a new plumbing tee northwest of RRC, will affect restrooms, sinks, drinking fountains, and any equipment that uses domestic water. In addition, a nearby fire hydrant will also be shut down for the duration of the outage. For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262.


MBT & SRL: Warm Building Temperatures

The chillers that provide cooling to the Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratories (MBT) and Science Research Laboratories (SRL) are experiencing some failures and not operating at 100% efficiency. As a result, building occupants will experience warmer than normal temperatures and higher humidity levels during the heat of the day. Facilities is working hard to resolve this problem as soon as possible. We will send an update notification when the repairs are complete.
