SSC: Exterior Wall Work to Begin on August 31, 2020

(August 25, 2020) – Work on the exterior walls of the Student Success Center (SSC), to install joints, is scheduled to begin on August 31, 2020 and is expected to last about five days. Building occupants and pedestrians near the building may experience intermittent blockage of walkways around the building, grinding noises, and dust. Partial Closure of BSA Parking Lot – August 27, 2020

(August 25, 2020) – A portion of the parking lot located in front of the Business Services Annex (BSA) Building will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2020 to remove and replace a 12.5-ton air conditioner unit at the Sculpture/Ceramics Building.  Barricades will be placed to restrict vehicles from entering and parking near the work site.  For additional information, please refer to the attached map or contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262.

MS: Power Outage – August 29, 2020

(August 19, 2020) – All electrical power to the Multidisciplinary Studies Building (MS) will be shut down on Saturday, August 29, 2020, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., for the replacement of ground fault safety devices and relays. No emergency power will be available during the outage. For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262.


DTC: Hot Water Outage

(August 24, 2020) – UPDATE:  The boiler repairs are complete and hot water has been restored to the Downtown Campus.

(August 17, 2020) – The boilers that provide hot water to the Downtown Campus are down for emergency repairs. We are working to resolve this problem as quickly as possible and will send an update notification when hot water is restored. NTEP: Demolition of Equipment – August 17- September 11, 2020

(August 26, 2020) – UPDATE: The completion date for the demolition of equipment is extended from August 26, 2020 to September 11, 2020. For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262.

(August 14, 2020) – The demolition and removal of North Thermal Energy Plant (NTEP) Chiller #3 will occur from August 17, 2020 to August 26, 2020. Work site set-up will occur on August 17, 2020 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Demolition work will occur from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. each day, to include weekends. Materials from the demolition will be placed into two (2) dumpsters placed in the TEP lot, alongside the NTEP. Dumpsters will be picked-up and dropped-off, as needed, during daylight hours. Demolition activities are not expected to impact campus operations, but will include the use of forklifts and cutting torches. CC/IAB/RWC/Recreation Field Complex/Baseball Field/Softball Field – Domestic Water Outage – August 16, 2020

(August 12, 2020) – Domestic water service to the Convocation Center (CC), Intercollegiate Athletics Building (IAB), Recreation Wellness Center (RWC), including Student Health Services and aquatics facilities, Recreation Field Complex, Baseball Field, and Softball Field will be shut down from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2020, in support of the Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence (RACE) project. The outage, necessary to tie in a new 12-inch domestic water line to the campus’ 16-inch service line, will affect restrooms, sinks, showers, drinking fountains, pools, irrigation, and any equipment that uses domestic water. BSE: Exhaust Fan Maintenance – August 17-21, 2020

(August 10, 2020)  – The exhaust fans in the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building (BSE) will be shut down for maintenance between 4:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., each day, beginning Monday, August 17, 2020 through Friday, August 21, 2020. The outages will not affect daily operations, as only one unit at a time will be shut down. For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262.


BSE: Air Handler Unit Maintenance – August 10-14, 2020

(August 10, 2020) – The air handler units in the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building (BSE) will be shut down for maintenance between 4:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. from Monday, August 10, 2020 through Friday, August 14, 2020. The outages should not affect building temperatures as only one unit at a time will be shut down to reduce the impact to building occupants. This work will not affect the vivarium, as it is supported through a separate unit. For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262.


Main Campus: Low Compressed Air Pressure

(August 14, 2020) – Update:  The compressed air has been repaired and normal air pressure restored.

(August 8, 2020) – Compressed air pressure in Main Campus buildings (excluding West Campus) is lower than normal and cannot be maintained above 45 psi. This will affect those who need to use compressed air on campus, to include laboratories. A contractor will be on campus Monday, Aug 10, 2020 to investigate the problem and we hope to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Facilities will send a follow-up email notification when the repair is complete and normal compressed air pressure is restored. LST: Air Conditioning Outage

(August 26, 2020) – UPDATE:  The air conditioning in office areas and equipment room has been restored. We are awaiting parts needed to repair the air conditioning in the bay and will send an update email when the air conditioning is working in the bay.

(August 6, 2020) – Air conditioning in the Large Scale Testing Laboratory (LST) is down, resulting in warm temperatures throughout the building. Facilities is working to resolve this issue and will send a follow-up e-mail when the repairs are complete and normal building temperatures restored.  For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262.


AET and SEB: Higher Humidity Levels and Temperature Fluctuations

(August 17, 2020) – UPDATE: Boiler #1 is operational with room temperatures and humidity levels returning to normal. Due to the length of the outage, there may be an isolated temperature or humidity problem that still exists that is unrelated to the outage. If you are still experiencing abnormal temperatures or humidity levels, please contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262.

(August 3, 2020) – Occupants of the Applied Engineering and Technology Building (AET) and the Science and Engineering Building (SEB) may experience higher than normal humidity levels or fluctuations in temperature due to problems with the South Thermal Energy Plant boilers. The boilers, which help regulate humidity and temperatures, are down for emergency repairs. We will send an update notification when the repairs are completed.
