BRG: Welcome Center Entrance Closed for Soft-washing

(January 26, 2021) The Bauerle Road Garage (BRG) Welcome Center entrance and surrounding area will be closed for soft-washing of brick and concrete surfaces on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 8 am to 5 pm.

JPL: Partial Electricity Shutdown — January 30, 2021

(January 21, 2021) — A partial electricity shutdown on the east side of the John Peace Library (JPL) will take effect on Saturday, January 30, 2021 between 7 am and 5 pm. The shutdown is needed for the installation and connection of a new electric panel in the JPL Data Center. While elevators in JPL will remain operational, DSX Card Readers may be impacted. Heating and cooling to building will also remain operational, however, restrooms in the highlighted areas will be impacted.

FLN: Partial Sidewalk Closure – January 11-15, 2021

(January 11, 2021) – A portion of sidewalk on the southwest side of the Flawn Building (FLN), between entrances 1.03.00 and 1.03.S3, will be closed from Monday, January 11, 2021 until Friday, January 15, 2021. The closure is needed to remove and repair an uneven section of the sidewalk. FLN: Air Handler Unit Down

(January 28, 2021) – UPDATE # 3 – Air Handler Unit 10 has been repaired and is operational. Building temperatures and airflow have been restored to normal conditions throughout the FLN. We appreciate your patience during this unexpected, major repair.

(January 13, 2021) – UPDATE # 2 – A major component of Air Handler Unit 10 needs to be replaced and we anticipate that it may take up to four (4) weeks to restore the unit. This air handler unit provides conditioned air (hot and cold) to the areas annotated in red on the attached map. Building occupants in these areas will most likely experience abnormal temperatures (hot and cold) and will not receive normal airflow during the outage. If you are in need of a space heater for your office or have concerns about operating research/lab activities under these conditions, please call the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262. In addition, three classes originally scheduled in these spaces will be relocated to alternate locations for the spring semester. We are working hard to repair this unit as soon as possible and apologize for the inconvenience. (January 8, 2021) – UPDATE:  We have repaired AHU 11, but discovered that a bearing in AHU 10 is near failure and need to shut it down immediately.  Air Handler Unit 10 supports the areas annotated in red on the attached map.  Building occupants in these portions of the buildings will not have the normal airflow and my experience abnormal temperatures during the outage.  We are submitting an urgent requisition for replacement parts; however, we may not be able to repair AHU 10 until later next week.  We will send an update notification when AHU 10 is repaired.  For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262.  FLN AHU Zone Map

(January 8, 2021) – Air Handler Unit (AHU) 11, which provides air conditioning and heating to a large portion of the Flawn Science Building (FLN), is down due to equipment failure. Facilities technicians are working to restore the AHU by early afternoon. Building occupants may experience abnormal temperatures while this AHU is out of service. ITC: Water Outage – Monday, January 11, 2021

(January 6, 2021) – A domestic water outage at the Institute of Texan Cultures (ITC) is scheduled for Monday, January 11, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for plumbing repairs.  There will be no water available in restrooms during this period.  For additional information, please contact the Facilities Service Center at (210) 458-4262


MBT: Vacuum System Down Until Further Notice

(January 8, 2021) – UPDATE: The vacuum system in the MBT has been restored and available for normal use.

(January 5, 2021) – The vacuum system that provides service to labs and fume hoods in the Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratories (MBT) is down until further notice.
