New initiative created to enhance student learning with state-of-the-art classroom furniture and academic technology will pave the way for future classroom improvements.
Classroom renovations will also include new flooring, paint, glass marker boards, electrical power and ADA improvements for accessibility.
Construction of four new outdoor classrooms begins soon, and will be located on the northeast corner of the Flawn Sciences Building and south of the Student Union. Project completion date is fall 2021.

John Peace Library - First Floor

Facilities, along with Sullivan Contracting Services and designers at Chesney Morales Partners, Inc., plan to refresh the John Peace Library (JPL) first floor restrooms with new tile, light fixtures, partitions, sinks, toilets, and countertops. New plumbing lines will also be part of the renovation project. The restroom renovations are expected to be completed by August 2021, just in time for the start of the fall semester.

Quality Assurance will convert 48 Irrigation controllers throughout tri-campus in 3 phases.
With the new system, Facilities will be able to access any controller from anywhere around the world, with a simple push of a button on a desktop computer or mobile device.
Phase I which includes the installation of 11 irrigation controllers has already begun and will be completed by August 31, 2021.

North Thermal Energy Plant

The new 2,500-ton chiller will replace the 1978 vintage chiller by July 2021. It’s replacement will provide reliable efficient cooling to UTSA campus buildings via the chilled water it produces.
McKinney Humanities Building

This project will enhance collaborative learning, beautify space, and, increase energy savings. Updates include the removal of old display cases, new furniture to 2nd floor lobby, collaborative-friendly space renovation to the 3rd floor, and a frosted film for the building skylight.
