(June 18, 2020) – The Facilities Operations & Maintenance Auto Shop is staying busy supporting and maintaining university owned vehicles and carts during the pandemic. The UTSA Police Department, second only to Facilities, has the largest university fleet and in May alone, the shop completed forty-one police department vehicle related work orders. They replaced dead batteries and old tires, performed brake jobs and got vehicles inspected, but not all the work was routine maintenance. During a weekend storm in May, the police department’s Rowdy Watch golf cart was pushed by a strong gust of wind into a signpost and down toward Leon Creek. Auto Shop mechanics Chris and Tony located the cart, checked it for damages, and returned it to its designated parking space. For the Auto Shop rescuing Rowdy Watch was all in a day’s work.
