(October 30, 2019) – The Facilities Operations and Maintenance team completed the aerial replacement of the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering (BSE) building’s exhaust fan number six, on Sunday, September 22, 2019. The fan experienced a failure of the main bearing, shaft, and housing in July and needed to be replaced. The operation required the use of a 300-ton articulating crane to hoist the 600-pound fan 200 feet into place on the building’s rooftop. The entire operation took only a little over eight hours to complete. Due to the redundancy in the building’s exhaust system, Facilities was able to schedule the replacement during a day and time that had the lowest impact to staff, faculty, and students. Great job team!
