August 31, 2023 – Meet Janis Rosario, Senior Accounting Technician for UTSA Facilities. In her day-to-day role, Janis handles a large number of tasks related to finances within the department. Working on everything from requisitions, to invoices, to preparing balance reports for management to review, Janis is part of the team that works behind the scenes to help Facilities function smoothly each and every day. With over 10 years of experience working at UTSA and a Roadrunner alumna herself, Janis started her journey with Campus Services in July of 2013 and brought her experience and expertise to Facilities in January of 2019. Even though her job can be difficult, Janis really enjoys the work that she does. “I’m a bit of a number nerd,” she explains. “I love reconciling the accounts and doing data collection, analysis and reporting.” Where others may just see spreadsheets and data tables, Janis knows that her work makes a difference that can be appreciated across all UTSA campuses. “When I see a new building or other project completed, I know that all the little pieces, parts and services that we processed came together to help create something both tangible and lasting.” “Janis consistently delivers great results,” her supervisor Andrea Chavez says. “Many staff have given compliments and expressed their appreciation for her attention to detail and accuracy with requisitions and payments. I really appreciate her hard work.” When she isn’t at work, Janis and her husband frequently take part in events around San Antonio with the three car clubs they belong to. The car cruises aren’t just for fun, as they also support Triple H Equitherapy, a charity that provides programs for veterans healing and for people of all ages with disabilities. As a former exchange student to Brazil, Janis has a deep appreciation for experiencing different places and meeting new people. “I love to travel, see new places and eat great food,” Janis said. “When I eventually retire, my husband and I want to travel all over the country.” |
