(September 14, 2021) – Ruben Cavazos, is our Maintenance Worker III assigned to the Downtown Campus. For over 15 years, he’s been a jack of all trades, performing duties as a carpenter, electrician, locksmith, plumber, painter and much more!
One of his all-time favorite projects has been remodeling the previous Buena Vista Street bookstore into the Gregory Luna Welcome Center. “Renovating the outdated bookstore into a beautiful welcoming space has been one of the most rewarding projects. Without a doubt, it felt great seeing all the crew, including the Movers team, pitching in and helping each other.”

Something you might not know about Ruben is his passion for home remodeling projects. Throughout the years, he’s been utilizing the skills he’s acquired at work to help his children renovate their homes. Ruben says, “I have been helping my youngest son remodel his home. Helping my kids with their homes keeps me going and gives me personal satisfaction. Plus, I know they appreciate my help.”
A fun fact about Ruben is that he spent three years as a member of the U.S. Army Security Agency at Field Station Berlin during the Cold War. If you ever spot Ruben throughout campus, be sure to ask him about his time with the agency. He has amazing stories!
