(November 22, 2021) – Allow us to introduce, Earnest Davenport, our Mechanical Maintenance Technician I, also known as the repair expert. For the past year, Earnest has maintained our Main Campus HVAC systems, performed pump and motor repairs on boilers and steamers, and coordinated contract work to ensure our campus systems are working properly. In the last 5 months, Earnest has been the only mechanical maintenance technician zooming around campus fixing and repairing systems. Big kudos to Earnest!

Since his first day with UTSA Facilities, “Earnest has been a breath of fresh air! When he arrives to work, he’s excited and ready to go,” says Justin Lowe, superintendent of maintenance. “His positive attitude is definitely contagious!”

Even during troubling times, Earnest always finds a way to remain positive and focused. When Winter Storm Uri hit San Antonio, Earnest immediately volunteered to stay overnight. “I didn’t want to stay at home sitting doing nothing. I wanted to help,” said Earnest. “I stayed the night assisting my team in whatever was needed. This included isolating or bypassing water breaks.”
Family is very important to Earnest. He likes to spend as much time with them as possible, that’s why he began their family road trip tradition. For the last ten years, the Davenport family has traveled to Corpus Christi to relax and unwind. Recently, they’ve adopted a new tradition of visiting the Kemah Boardwalk in Houston, Texas. They can’t wait to hop in the car for the fifth year in a row!
