Unplanned Heating Outage – Downtown Campus
Unplanned Restroom Closure – John Peace Library
(June 4, 2025) – Due to a water leak, a restroom on the fourth floor of the John Peace Library (4.02.09) on the Main Campus is temporarily closed.
Facilities is conducting repairs to fix the leak as quickly as possible. Until repairs are complete, building occupants should use the restroom located across the hall.

Unplanned Cooling Outage – McKinney Humanities Building
(June 4, 2025) – An unplanned comfort cooling outage has occurred at the McKinney Humanities Building on the Main Campus.
Facilities is conducting repairs to restore the building’s cooling systems as quickly as possible. Until repairs are complete, occupants may experience reduced ventilation and higher than normal indoor temperatures.

(May 22, 2025) – An unplanned comfort cooling outage has occurred at the Urschel Administration Building (UAB) and the McAllister Ceramics Building (MCB) on the Southwest Campus.
Facilities is conducting repairs to restore the buildings’ cooling systems as quickly as possible. Until repairs are complete, occupants may experience higher than normal indoor temperatures.

(May 14, 2025) – An unplanned comfort cooling outage has occurred at the Roadrunner Café (RRC) on the Main Campus.

Planned Restroom Closure – McKinney Humanities Building
(May 13, 2025) – One of the third-floor women’s restrooms in the McKinney Humanities Building, MH 3.03.22, will be closed for repairs from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily Monday, May 19 through Friday, May 23.
While work is underway, signage will be posted to direct occupants to alternate restrooms.

UPDATE: Unplanned Air Compressor Outage – Main Campus
(May 7, 2025) – Repairs are complete at the Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratory (MBT) building. The air compressor is fully operational, and compressed air service to autoclaves and laboratories has been restored.

(May 6, 2025) – An unplanned air compressor outage has occurred at the Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratory Building (MBT) building on the Main Campus. Facilities is conducting repairs and will have the service restored as quickly as possible. Until repairs are complete, compressed air for autoclaves and laboratories will be unavailable throughout the building.

Annual Window Cleaning
(May 1, 2025) – This summer, exterior window cleaning is planned for multiple buildings across the Main and Downtown campuses. Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily during the months of May, June and July. All building entrances will remain accessible throughout the cleaning, and no disruptions to campus operations are expected.

Unplanned Vacuum Outage – Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratory Building
(April 15, 2025) – An unplanned vacuum system outage has occurred at the Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratory Building (MBT) on the Main Campus. Facilities is working to conduct repairs and will have the service restored as quickly as possible. Until repairs are complete, building occupants will be unable to use laboratory vacuum systems.

Planned Road Closure – Main Campus
(April 11, 2025) – A planned road closure of Cocke Drive between Fred Cook Road and the Paseo Del Norte Bridge on the Main Campus is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16. This closure is necessary in order to support nearby crane operations.
During the closure, the Multidisciplinary Studies Building’s back entrance, loading dock and parking spaces near the loading dock will be inaccessible. Additionally, drivers needing access to the John Peace Library’s loading dock will need to use the Bauerle Road entrance to Cocke Drive. Downtown Campus Unplanned Power Outage
(March 28, 2025) – A brief, unplanned power outage occurred across the Downtown Campus this afternoon. Facilities is working as quickly as possible to identify the cause of the outage and to restore all affected equipment.

UPDATE: Unplanned Comfort Cooling Reduction
(March 13, 2025) – The mechanical issues previously affecting comfort cooling at the McAllister Ceramics Building (MCB), Tobin Building (TOB) and Urschel Administration Building (UAB) at the Southwest Campus have been repaired and comfort cooling has been restored to all buildings.

(March 10, 2025) – Due to mechanical issues, an unplanned comfort cooling reduction has occurred at the McAllister Ceramics Building (MCB), Tobin Building (TOB) and Urschel Administration Building (UAB) at the Southwest Campus.

Planned Restroom Closures
(March 7, 2025) – During spring break, Facilities will replace soap dispensers in restrooms, break rooms and designated lab spaces across all campuses. Work will begin on Monday, March 10 and will continue through Monday, March 17.
During this time, restrooms will be closed for less than one hour while the dispensers are replaced.

Unplanned Steam Outage – Biosciences Building (BSB)

An unplanned steam system outage has occurred at the Biosciences Building. During the outage, building occupants will be unable to use autoclaves and cage washers in laboratories due to the lack of steam. Heating and cooling in the building will not be affected.
Facilities is working to correct the issue as quickly as possible.

(January 22, 2025) – Due to mechanical issues, an unplanned loss of heating has occurred at the Urschel Administration Building (UAB), Tobin Building (TOB), Negley Building (NEG) and the McAllister Ceramics Building (MCB). Occupants may experience reduced temperatures throughout the buildings until the heat is fully restored.
Facilities is currently working to correct the issue and hopes to have the buildings’ heating system repaired as quickly as possible.
