UPDATE: Unplanned Electrical Outage – SWC
(January 31, 2024) – Due to unforeseen issues, an unplanned electrical outage occurred this morning at the Southwest Campus (SWC). Power crews from CPS Energy quickly responded and power has now been restored.

(January 31, 2024) – Due to unforeseen issues, an unplanned electrical outage has occurred at the Southwest Campus (SWC). Power crews from CPS Energy are on the way and expect to have power restored to the campus by 2:30 p.m.

UPDATE: Planned Sidewalk and Parking Lot Closure – BSE
(January 30, 2024) – The planned sidewalk closure outside the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building (BSE) has been extended through Wednesday, Jan. 31. This closure is necessary for Facilities to remove large HVAC equipment from the area.
During the closure a portion of the Ford Lot to the south of the building will also be closed to vehicle traffic.

(January 29, 2024) – A planned sidewalk closure outside the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building (BSE) is scheduled for the entire day on Tuesday, Jan. 30. This closure is necessary for Facilities to remove large HVAC equipment from the area.

Planned Electrical Outage – BSE
(January 26, 2024) – A planned, partial electrical outage at the Biotechnology Sciences and Engineering Building (BSE) is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26. Hallways located on the east side of the building (spaces in 1.100, 2.100, 3.100 and 4.100) will be affected. This outage is necessary for Facilities to conduct repairs to the building’s electrical system.
During the outage, normal lighting will turn off, but will be powered by backup power (e-power) and building occupants on the fourth floor may notice slightly higher temperatures. The outage will also affect BSE’s two passenger elevators, which will be out of service, but the freight elevator will remain in operation.

Planned Steam Outage – Main Campus – Multiple Buildings
(January 24, 2024) – A planned steam outage for multiple buildings across the Main Campus is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25. This outage is necessary for Facilities to conduct repairs on the buildings’ steam system. The following buildings are affected by the outage:
Arts Building (ART)
Biosciences Building (BSB)
Biotechnology Sciences & Engineering Building (BSE)
Bosque Street Building (BOS)
Business Building (BB)
Convocation Center (CC)
Flawn Science Building (FLN)
H-E-B Student Union (HSU)
Intercollegiate Athletics Building (IAB)
John Peace Library (JPL)
Main Building (MB)
McKinney Humanities Building (MH)
Multidisciplinary Studies Building (MS)
Recreation Wellness Center (RWC)
Student Union (SU)
During the outage, building residents may notice a drop in temperature. The outage will also affect the hot water in all buildings, including autoclaves and cage washers in laboratories.

Unplanned Restroom Closure – MH
(January 23, 2024) – Due to plumbing issues, an unplanned restroom closure was necessary at the McKinney Humanities Building (MH) earlier today. The closure was required for Facilities to conduct emergency repairs to the building’s plumbing system.
Facilities has since corrected the issue and the building’s restrooms are being reopened. We apologize for any inconvenience this closure may have caused.

Planned Electrical Outage – FS and BVB
(January 23, 2024) – A planned electrical outage at the Frio Street Building (FS) and Buena Vista Street Building (BVB) is scheduled for 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24. This outage is necessary for Facilities to conduct repairs to the buildings’ emergency backup generator systems.
During the repairs the buildings may experience brief moments of power outages.

Unplanned Reverse Osmosis Water Outage – FLN
(January 19, 2024) – Due to mechanical issues, an unplanned outage of the reverse osmosis (RO) water system has occurred at the Flawn Sciences Building (FLN). During the outage, RO water will not be available for use in all laboratories.
Facilities is currently working to correct the issue and hopes to have the building’s RO water system restored quickly.

UPDATE: Unplanned Reduction of Heating – MBT
(January 17, 2024) – In addition to the loss of normal heating at Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratory Building (MBT), Facilities has had to reduce exhaust ventilation in order to limit the amount of cold air coming in to the building. As a result, fume hoods are currently not usable throughout MBT and fume sashes should remain closed while they are not in use.
During this outage occupants may experience reduced building temperatures until the heat is fully restored.
Facilities is currently working to correct the issue and hopes to have the building’s heating system repaired as quickly as possible.

Unplanned Reduction of Ventilation – FLN
(January 12, 2024) – Due to mechanical issues, an unplanned reduction in airflow has occurred at the Flawn Sciences Building (FLN). Occupants will be unable to utilize fume hoods until the airflow is fully restored.
Facilities is currently working to correct the issue and expects to have the building’s ventilation system repaired on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Planned Water Outage – MBT
(January 12, 2024) – A planned water outage at the Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratory Building (MBT) is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18. This outage is necessary for Facilities to conduct repairs to the building’s plumbing system.
During the outage water will be unavailable throughout the facility and restrooms will be closed.

(January 8, 2024) – Due to mechanical issues, an unplanned reduction in airflow has occurred at the Flawn Sciences Building (FLN). Occupants may experience reduced exhaust fume hood flow and cooler temperatures inside the building until the airflow is fully restored.
Facilities is currently working to correct the issue and hopes to have the building’s ventilation system repaired quickly.

(January 5, 2024) – The reduction of ventilation flow affecting the Flawn Sciences Building (FLN) has been repaired. Exhaust fume hood flow and temperature control inside the building has been returned to normal levels.

Unplanned Heating Outage – BOS
(January 2, 2024) – An unplanned heating outage has occurred at the Bosque Street Building (BOS). We are awaiting parts needed for the repair and working to resolve this outage as soon as possible. A follow-up notification will be sent once heat has been fully restored to the building.
